The collection of James W. Grimes papers consists of a series of letters from James W. Grimes to his nephew John G. Walker. The letters, written from 1862-1872, cover a wide range of topics. Letters discuss the abolishment of slavery, the re-entry of Southern states into the Union, and Mr. Grimes' experiences with the Department of the Navy. Also included in the collection are a list of stocks and bonds belonging to the estate of James W. Grimes.
